The East Anglian charity behind GoGoSafari has just announced summer dates for the county trail – and a call out for volunteers to help bring it to life. Break Senior Partnership and Project Manager Peter Marron explains more

Get ready to embark on a thrilling adventure as GoGoSafari takes over Norwich and Norfolk this summer from 23rd June to 30th August. The much-anticipated trail will feature 50 stunning large sculptures of gorillas, rhinos, giraffes, lions, and elephants, each one beautifully decorated by talented artists and sponsored by local businesses. The charity behind the trail, Break which supports young people in and around care, is now calling for volunteers to become Trail Rangers and play a key role in helping to bring the experience to life.

The GoGoSafari Team

An adventure for all ages, GoGoSafari promises a fun-filled, family-friendly day out with something new to discover around every corner! Trotting alongside these large sculptures will be over 60 Mini Gs, adorable smaller giraffe sculptures designed by local schools and community groups who will be making up their very own urban safari in venues across the city.

Throughout the ten-week trail, trailgoers can follow the trail on the interactive GoGoSafari app or by picking up a map from the Safari hub, located at The Forum. Open throughout the ten-week trail, the hub is a one-stop-shop for everything GoGoSafari, including exclusive merchandise and an exciting schedule of pop-up events and activities designed to keep the adventure going.

To make this incredible event possible, volunteers are urgently needed. Supported by uniform outfitters and local business Stevensons, the volunteer Trail Rangers will play a vital role in creating a memorable experience for trailgoers. Tasks include helping visitors the safari hub, maintaining the sculptures, assisting with pop-up events and fundraising, and aiding with the trail’s setup and deinstallation.

‘We’re absolutely thrilled to be bringing GoGoSafari to Norwich this summer,’ comments Senior Partnership and Project Manager Peter Marron. ‘But to make GoGoSafari a reality, we rely on the incredible support of our volunteers. We’re looking for enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about making a difference and want help bring this spectacular trail to life. Whether you have a few hours or a few days to spare, your support is essential to ensuring the success of this event, and ultimately, the positive impact it will have on the young people from care that Break supports.’

GoGoSafari at Africa Alive

Once the trail concludes, some of the sculptures will be auctioned, with proceeds going directly to support Break’s life-changing work. GoGoSafari is delivered by Break in partnership with Wild in Art and the Zoological Society of East Anglia and presenting partners Norwich BID and Chantry Place and is the fifth trail the charity has brought to Norwich and Norfolk.

For those interested in volunteering, the GoGoSafari team will be hosting two Trail Ranger Information events where you can learn more about the exciting opportunities available and how you can get involved. Visit them at Chantry Place on 20th February between 10am and 2pm, or at The Forum on 25th February between 10am and 3pm. Can’t wait! I’m very fortunate to have painted a couple of sculptures for this trail 🙂
