How to have a Happy Eco New Year!

December 31, 2021 Leave a Comment

With 2022 just around the corner, will some of your resolutions include trying to be more eco-friendly? Vicki Harris of From Suffolk With Love offers a few tips to help you on your way.

Reusable everything!
From water bottles to coffee cups to snack boxes. Carry your reusables in your bag or car to make sure you don’t have to buy bottled water or use a plastic coffee cup. Take your own snacks to avoid buying plastic wrapped food and don’t forget your reusable shopping bags too!

Hand washing
Consider going back to soap bars instead of liquid soap wash. I bet there are lots of lovely small businesses that make natural soap bars near you, so you can support a small business and have fewer plastic bottles for recycling or waste.

Use a refill store
There are so many brilliant refill shops popping up that there is bound to be one near you. Save your jars, containers, old plastic bottles and refill what you can. As well as foods like pasta and rice you can refill your washing up liquid, liquid soap and lots more!

Fruit and Veg
Check out your local greengrocer for plastic free fruit and veg, or pick up the loose fruit and veg in your supermarket over the prewrapped variety. Take some little bags with you if you don’t want them rolling around the trolley!

Bathroom check
The bathroom is a good place to start for plastic free swaps. Try a plastic free deodorant or toothpaste and swap your plastic toothbrush for a bamboo one. You can also use soap instead of shower gel as well as shampoo and conditioner bars replacing as many plastic bottles as you can.

Baby steps
It’s overwhelming changing everything at once, which may then make it hard to keep up, so try one new thing at a time and see how you get on. If you don’t get on with one swap move on! Try and different one and see how that goes. Any changes you make are brilliant!

Plastic free gifts
Of course if you are looking for some eco-friendly gifts, my gift boxes may be just what you are after! At From Suffolk With Love, I have lots of different ideas for you and I’m always happy to point you in the direction of another small business if you have something particular in mind!

Remember every swap makes a difference so anything you change is amazing, however small! Wishing you all a happy, healthy and eco-friendly 2022!
