An education in skin health

September 7, 2023 Leave a Comment

In this month’s column, skin health expert Louise Thomas-Minns reflects on 16 years of educating people when it comes to their skin

‘Every day is a school day’ is a cliché perhaps but is so apt for everyone in life and so relevant in my industry of beauty and skin health. It is a brilliantly, ever evolving wheel that keeps me on my toes (for the last 27 years) but I love the fact that there is innovation round every corner of it. Education is at the heart of my values and of the philosophy of both my signature facial, which I developed over a decade and bought to life in 2007 – and of my skin care brand Louise Thomas skin care.

I am passionate about educating our clients on their skin health, skin type, skin conditions, skin care as well as delivering results driven facials. I want to empower those clients and consumers of the skin care brand, to become an ‘expert’ in their own skin or at least be perceptive to change and intuitive to when they need to seek further advice from a skin health pro.

‘Our skin changes every minute of every day’ is something I say a lot! Meaning that no one’s skin is the same and that it is ‘normal’ to hit bumps in the road of skin health.

Think about where you get your skin health advice from. Who helps you to determine what is causing your skin to behave in a certain way? who helps you to understand the correct skin care products for your skin or the right treatment plan for you? I hope it is a professional who is qualified to do so and will provide you with the education you need to be comfortable in your own skin.
