The latest column from the team at Norwich Unity Hub celebrates the first wedding at Carrow House, thanks to a growing partnership with Norfolk-based Smoke & Wildwood weddings
At the heart of Norwich Unity Hub’s work is a simple but powerful belief: that spaces can bring people together in meaningful, lasting ways. At Carrow House, that belief is brought to life through a growing partnership with Smoke & Wildwood, the Norfolk and Suffolk based wedding stylists and event specialists who are helping transform the historic venue into a vibrant hub for celebration, connection and community impact. Led by Head of Events Daisy Bonham, Smoke & Wildwood describe themselves as “a little wild, wonderfully curious, and full of personality” and their approach to weddings and large events reflects just that. As specialists in DIY venue styling, they work closely with couples and organisers to create celebrations that are both personal and memorable, while ensuring the practicalities of running a large event are handled professionally and safely.
Their partnership with Norwich Unity Hub means that external hirers of Carrow House can enjoy the beauty and history of the venue with confidence, knowing a trusted team is managing the logistics behind the scenes. But the impact of this collaboration reaches far beyond individual events.
Income generated from weddings, corporate bookings and large-scale functions is reinvested directly into Norwich Unity Hub, helping to support its wider community programmes and initiatives. This model ensures that every celebration hosted at Carrow House contributes to something bigger, feeding back into projects that benefit local people across Norwich.
For Smoke & Wildwood, the partnership has also created meaningful opportunities. Daisy says: “Carrow House offers couples an affordable yet characterful venue, while simultaneously supporting local enterprise. Each wedding generates work for a network of regional suppliers, from caterers to florists, creating a ripple effect across the local economy”. It also provides valuable year-round income for the team, helping to sustain jobs and support growth during quieter periods.
Since partnering with Norwich Unity Hub, Smoke & Wildwood have already delivered a wide range of events at Carrow House, from community fitness sessions and women’s networking events to charity collaborations and seasonal celebrations. Their work has included supporting fundraising initiatives, contributing décor for community events, and helping fellow resident organisations bring their ideas to life.

The venue’s growing reputation is reflected in its wedding bookings, with 18 confirmed celebrations scheduled through to September 2027. The first of these, held on 24th May, marked a significant milestone as Megan and Granger became the first couple to marry at Carrow House. Their day, featuring alfresco dining and dancing beside the Orangery in the bank holiday sunshine, set the tone for what promises to be many more unforgettable moments.
Interest continues to grow, with more than 70 couples already visiting the site to explore its possibilities and learn about the work of Norwich Unity Hub. The venue has even attracted national attention, featuring in British Vogue, helping to introduce Carrow House to new audiences and communities.
For Daisy and the team, what stands out most is not just the events themselves, but the connections formed along the way. From supporting resident organisations to building relationships with local partners, the collaboration has fostered a sense of shared purpose that reflects Norwich Unity Hub’s core values.
As Carrow House continues to evolve, the partnership with Smoke & Wildwood stands as a powerful example of how collaboration, creativity and community focus can turn a historic space into something truly special.
