Visitors will have the chance to explore 1.5 million roses in bloom in Norfolk next month, thanks to the new Rose Field Open Days launched by the Priscilla Bacon Hospice Charity. CEO Fearn Hambling explains more
Visitors will have the chance to explore spectacular rose fields normally closed to the public this July, as the Priscilla Bacon Hospice Charity launches its brand-new Rose Field Open Days. Taking place on Thursday 9th and Friday 10th July at Whartons Garden Roses near Diss, the event will give visitors rare access to 70 acres of rose fields filled with more than 1.5 million roses in peak summer bloom. With over 300 varieties on display, this is a unique chance to enjoy one of the UK’s largest rose-growing sites, while supporting local hospice care.

Visitors can wander through the fields, take photographs, enjoy refreshments from local traders, and experience the beauty and fragrance of the roses during two special summer afternoon and evening openings.
Fearn Hambling, CEO of the Priscilla Bacon Hospice Charity, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Whartons Garden Roses to offer people a rare opportunity to experience these stunning rose fields. Proceeds from the open days will support people affected by life-limiting illnesses and bereavement across Norfolk and Waveney. Every ticket sold will help us fund services to help people live as well as possible.”
The Rose Field Open Days are expected to attract visitors from across Norfolk and Suffolk, with photography enthusiasts, gardeners, families, dog owners and anyone looking for a unique summer day out invited to attend.
Tickets cost £10 for adults and £5 for children aged 5–17, with children under five attending free. Advance booking is essential and no tickets will be available on the gate.
