Why business is looking good for Joanne

February 15, 2024 Leave a Comment

Jo Hearle Beauty & Nail Salon has just been recognised by this year’s Prestige Awards, which recognises small and medium-sized businesses that have proven to be the best in their market. Here, owner Joanne Hearle describes her business journey

I was recently awarded Beauty and Nail Salon of the Year for 2024 at the Prestige Awards, Birmingham! In January 2023, I was nominated as a Top 10 UK finalist beautician in the English Hair and Beauty Awards. Numerous clients in both awards had nominated me, based on my expertise and impeccable consistent record on Google and Facebook.

What led you to starting your businesses more than six years ago?

My beauty journey commenced in 2017 when I enrolled at The Norwich School of Beauty to acquire my beauty specialist qualifications. By March 2018, I established Bressingham Beauty Salon as a sole trader, taking on the roles of managing director and beautician. After enjoying nearly six successful years in Diss, I strategically relocated my business to the vibrant historic town of Harleston, setting up shop on the high street above Handsomes of Harleston Barbers on October 14, 2023. Since the move, I have maintained my existing clients while gaining a fresh following within the welcoming community of Harleston. As a dedicated professional, I prioritise providing my clients with exceptional treatments, top-notch customer service, and expertise derived from extensive knowledge and training. Hailing from Norfolk, I have roots in the region and a humble upbringing with hardworking parents. My diverse career in sales and customer services spanning numerous years has fuelled my drive for success. Educated in business and accounting, I am immensely grateful for the opportunities that have unfolded over the past decade. I extend my sincere thanks and recognition to everyone who has contributed to my entrepreneurial journey.

How have things been on a professional level over the past year?

My professional achievements include a successful year with 23 weddings in 2023, specializing in bridal and wedding nails. Additionally, there was a notable salon move and interior decoration at Handsomes of Harleston, accompanied by effective signage to guide customers and enhance their pampering experience. Furthermore, I covered 8,200 miles in my car, delivering luxury hair and makeup services for brides and their entourage. Commuting from Norwich along the A140 to Harleston has been a source of great satisfaction in my professional journey.

What does Jo Hearle Beauty and Nail Salon offer the people of Harleston and beyond?

There is a diverse range of services on my salon website, inviting the public to indulge in a moment of relaxation and rejuvenation within a luxuriously designed space, and to experience the transformative effects, leaving the salon with a renewed and refreshed aura – such as feeling and looking a decade younger with a TEMPLESPA anti-ageing facial. Whether it’s professional hair and makeup artistry for a special event, a masterclass in makeup, or preparation for a wedding, my salon caters to unique needs. And consider pampering neglected hands and feet to ensure they consistently look their best.

Joanne Hearle is also a Professional Make Up Artist

You’re also a bridal and wedding make-up artist?

Indeed, I excel at crafting bridal and wedding makeup looks that enhance your natural beauty on my client’s big day. Whether they envision a timeless, classic style or something more contemporary, my expertise ensures my clients will radiate confidence and elegance. If you’re interested in scheduling a consultation or discussing your specific preferences, I’m here to make your wedding beauty vision a reality.

And you’re interested in self-care and wellbeing in general?

Self-care and wellbeing go hand in hand like a positive relationship or marriage. I have stopped drinking alcohol altogether and feel much better for it, completing dry December, dry January and now dry February. I decided to stop drinking alcohol because it was no longer pleasurable. It became a routine habit with dinner. I have a couple of breaks away in Tenerife each year and on each occasion, I have relaxing massages and non-evasive beauty tweaking. I am mindful of what I consume and practice mindfulness. My circle is really small but hugely enriched with a lot of positive energy and love.

To be given the award of Beauty and Nail Salon of the Year Award at the Prestige Awards 2024 means a lot to me and my businesses.
