Willow Farrell is the CEO of FUSE Network CIC, a social enterprise supporting other social enterprises across Norfolk. Ahead of a Social Enterprise Day Showcase next week, Willow explains all about it
Who you are and what you do?
I’m Willow Farrell, CEO of FUSE Network, Norfolk’s social enterprise network. I’ve spent the past decade working in, with, and alongside social enterprises, so I’m very passionate about supporting businesses that trade for good. At FUSE, we help people start, grow and sustain social enterprises. A social enterprise is a not-for-profit business that reinvests its profits into a social purpose. We bring the sector together through events, training and advocacy so that social enterprises have the support they need to thrive.
For those not in the know, what is FUSE Network, how long has it been running for, and how does it support social enterprises across Norfolk?
FUSE Network has been running for just over three years and has become the go-to place for social enterprises in Norfolk. We provide practical one-to-one support, run training programmes, create opportunities to connect, and make sure the sector has a strong voice with local councils, businesses and public sector partners.
What can you tell us about what is happening next week?
To celebrate national Social Enterprise Day, we are hosting a showcase event with our partners at Norwich Unity Hub. It’s a chance to shine a light on the incredible social enterprises in our region and show people how they can get involved, whether that’s buying from them, supporting their work or exploring opportunities to collaborate.

When and where will it take place and how many enterprises will be involved? Is it open to the public? How can people find out more about the event?
The event takes place on Thursday 20 November from 10am to 2pm at Carrow House on King Street in Norwich. Around 40 social enterprises will be showcasing their work, from organisations supporting young people and tackling inequality to those focused on food, sustainability and wellbeing. It is free and open to the public, so everyone is welcome to drop in, meet the enterprises, hear their stories and be inspired. Full details are available here and across our social media channels.
What is the ultimate goal of FUSE Network?
Our ultimate goal is to build a stronger, fairer and more inclusive economy that creates lasting community wealth in Norfolk. We want to see social enterprises recognised, supported and celebrated so that more people know this way of doing business exists! Norwich is officially recognised as a Social Enterprise Place by Social Enterprise UK, a status that FUSE Network achieved and continues to look after, and we are proud to carry that forward.
