Legal team’s 600,000 steps for Sue Lambert Trust

October 8, 2025 1 Comment

The soles of 10 determined fundraisers from the Norwich office of law firm Howes Percival are recovering after strutting a 40-mile walk on Friday 26th September, raising money for sexual violence support charity, Sue Lambert Trust.

A legal team from Howes Percival has walked 40 miles, and clocked up 685,429 steps, to raise funds for Norfolk charity Sue Lambert Trust. Here, some of those involved explain more

The soles of 10 determined fundraisers from the Norwich office of law firm Howes Percival are still recovering after strutting a 40-mile walk, raising money for sexual violence support charity, Sue Lambert Trust. Setting off from Great Yarmouth and walking to Norwich, the team put one step in front of the other for 14 hours straight. With their fundraising page still open, the team has already raised £3,400 from the sponsored walk. Money that will enable the charity to continue to provide specialist therapy and one-to-one counselling support for people living in Norfolk, who have been the victim of sexual abuse or sexual violence.

Setting off at 7am from the Sue Lambert Trust offices in King Street Great Yarmouth, the team crossed the finish line together at 9.15pm, where they were rewarded with slices of cake at the charity’s Norwich head office. Along the route, Gordon Simpson, Partner at Howes Percival raised smiles from onlookers as he dressed up as a seagull, before changing into a wolf suit.

The fundraising challenge is the latest in a series of events planned by the Norwich office of Howes Percival, after nominating Sue Lambert Trust as its charity of the year.

Every penny raised from the 40-mile walk will help to fund the charity’s specialist counselling and therapy services, such as group support work, for survivors of sexual violence living in Norfolk. Last year, Sue Lambert Trust supported nearly 600 individuals across Norfolk, with trauma-informed, one-to-one support.

Clive Evans, the charity’s CEO, says; “We know many survivors stay silent for years before finding their voice and bravely asking for help. When they do, we want to be there to listen and to provide the specialist therapy that people desperately need, to help them heal. But sadly, demand is growing all the time, while our funding cuts mean we face an uphill struggle.

“The team from Howes Percival have been brilliant, and by taking on this epic walking challenge, they’ve raised a significant amount which means someone in Norfolk is a step closer to getting the counselling help they so desperately need. Counselling that gives people their lives back again.”

Howes Percival’s Sam Leaver commented, “We were happy to come together as a team for our sponsored walk in support of our charity of the year, Sue Lambert Trust. It was both a challenge and a privilege to walk to raise funds for this charity which provides vital support services, and we look forward to continuing our support events throughout this year.”

    10 souls,
    40 leagues trod,
    A modern feat,
    by many,
    feet,
    Kudos the treat,
    Beat goes 10 hearts,
    As one,
    5 Time Lords,
    A walking,
    Why?
    Time spent,
    Thinking and talking,
    Is not like snorkling,
    Where bubbles,
    Are words,
    Waiting to burst,
    And free the sound,
    Of the sea.

Well done “Sue Lambert Trust” to have friends.

    Nice post Emma.
