Folk Features is pleased to announce that it is one of the sponsors of The Feed’s first Waterloo Park Dog Show in Norwich, on Bank Holiday Monday, May 8! Find out how your dog can get involved
With ‘Daniel the spaniel’ a much-loved and much-valued member of the Folk Features team, it was a no-brainer for the positive news website for Norfolk and Suffolk to become one of the sponsors for The Feed’s first Dog Show in Norwich! The inaugural Waterloo Park Dog Show, on Monday May 8 (the extra Bank Holiday for the King’s Coronation), will take place just outside the café, on the grass near the bandstand. The café will be open throughout the event, with a range of delicious food – including full cooked breakfasts, sausage rolls, cakes, lunches. And, yes, dogs on leads are welcome in the café.
The Dog Show’s main event sponsor is Top Dog Harnesses, with Folk Features sponsoring the Waggiest Tail class, to start the show, at 11am. Following that, there will be Dog Most Like its Owner (can involve costumes!); Golden Oldie (for dogs 7 years and older); Precious Pup (for puppies under 12 months); Furry Friend (for dogs 1–6 years old); and Best Biscuit Catcher. The top three in each class will receive a rosette and certificate. The class winners will go forward to the Best in Show judging with the winner receiving a trophy and prize from the main event sponsor, Top Dog.
Through the power of food, The Feed’s mission is to empower communities in Norwich, ensuring every person has the support to eat well, live well and feel connected. And, situated in one of Norwich’s Green Flag parks, the beautiful Waterloo Park Pavilion Café very much has the community at its heart.
The news about the Dog Show comes hot on the heels of The Feed’s new support programme, to enable ‘communities where everyone thrives’. The team at The Feed have been busy listening to members, volunteers and the local community, and are expanding the support they provide to more than 2,000 households who use the Social Supermarket on Hall Road in Norwich for affordable food.
They are also making more space available at Prince of Wales Road venue to the expanding catering business to enable them to be more financially resilient – the café there has closed as a result, but both the REST café on Bethel Street and the Waterloo Park Pavilion Café remain open seven days a week.
The Dog Show is part of The Feed’s growing events offer at its Waterloo Park venue. Chris Elliott, Marketing Manager, says: ‘Our first Dog Show continues our aim to offer events for the local community. We’ve run activities for children and families since we opened including an Easter Egg hunt recently. With so many dogs using the park and our dog-friendly café we thought a Dog Show would be popular.’
Folk Features and Daniel the spaniel look forward to seeing you there!
