Meet Adrian Boulter, who hosts Curry and Chat events across Lovell sites – including a construction worker welfare event in King’s Lynn last week. Here, Adrian explains how it is all about combating mental health in the construction industry
Wellbeing advocate Adrian Boulter has cooked over 240 portions of curry since August 2023, when he began hosting Curry and Chat events across Lovell sites – and the aim is to provide a listening ear and mental health support to anyone who needs it. The latest curry night came after Lovell Homes welcomed the Lighthouse Charity’s ‘Make It Visible’ tour in Kings Lynn, demonstrating the company’s commitment to combatting mental health in the construction sector.
Every year, Lighthouse the construction industry charity, provides vital support to thousands of construction workers and their families across the UK. Grounded in three pillars of wellbeing, Emotional, Physical and Financial, the charity offers confidential, accessible help to those facing life’s challenges. From mental health and relationship struggles to injury recovery and financial hardship, Lighthouse charity services span a wide spectrum of needs:
Whether it’s a crisis or a quiet need for reassurance, Lighthouse charity remains a steadfast lifeline for the construction community, ensuring no worker or family member faces hardship alone.

Last week, Lovell Homes hosted the Lighthouse charities ‘Make It Visible’ site tour, an initiative which included a presentation to construction workers, aimed at breaking down barriers around mental health in the construction sector. The event took place at their latest housing development ‘Valentine Park’ in partnership with the Borough Council of Kings Lynn and West Norfolk, being built adjacent to the Lynnsport community sports and leisure complex in Kings Lynn.
The presentation was followed by one of Lovell’s signature Curry & Chat events, hosted by Adrian, a passionate advocate for wellbeing and mental health first aider across Lovell sites. Adrian prepares homemade curries from scratch and serves them on site, creating a relaxed space where team members and subcontractors can talk openly about mental health and wellbeing.
Adrian, Safety Health & Environmental Manager at Lovell Partnerships Ltd, said: “We know that a simple meal and a genuine conversation can make a real difference, Curry & Chat is about showing up for each other with no judgement, just support.”
Lovell East Anglia has been actively supporting the Lighthouse Charity for over two years, raising funds and awareness through grassroots initiatives. In January 2024, the team rolled out bespoke hard hat stickers across all sites to make wellbeing support more visible and accessible to everyone on site.
Adrian has cooked over 240 portions of curry since he began back in August 2023 and hopes to continue visiting new sites across East Anglia and providing a listening ear and mental health support to anyone who needs it.
During the Lynnsport visit, Lovell Homes presented a cheque for £500 to the Lighthouse Charity, recognising the funds raised through Curry & Chat with an additional £230 being raised on the day.
The team also recently launched a Just Giving page to continue fundraising and share photos from recent events: justgiving.com/page/curryandchat.
Simon Medler, Regional Managing Director for Lovell, said: “The Make It Visible campaign, backed by the Lighthouse Charity, aims to bring mental health support directly to construction workers on site and importantly without any stigma. Lovell East Anglia is honoured to be part of this movement and remains committed to fostering a culture of care, openness and community across our developments”.
