Family-owned business Dipple & Conway, which has a 100-year-plus history in Norfolk, is now offering hearing care alongside its eye care services. Company director Matthew Conway explains more
Independent Norfolk business Dipple & Conway has launched a new hearing care service, alongside its eye care services. Now known as Dipple & Conway Opticians and Audiologists, the company was founded in 1916 by George Dipple, a jeweller, and Thomas Conway, a qualified optician. Still led by the Conway family, the business has always been committed to delivering exceptional eye-care to its clients, many of whom have been with Dipple & Conway for more than 50 years.
With branches in Norwich, Diss and Swaffham, Dipple & Conway prides itself on offering a level of specialist eye-care which is comparable to many hospitals. The business has always invested in the very latest optometric technology, enabling the highly qualified clinical team to regularly identify potentially life-threatening health issues during an eye test.
So, with more than a century of eye care history under its belt, why has Dipple & Conway changed now? “One of our core values as a business is that we treasure our clients,” explains Matthew Conway, one of the company’s directors. “We have always been here to make their quality of life better with the best possible vision-care: providing the highest level of eye care advice, spectacles and contact lenses to help them feel better and look great. Being the best, not the biggest, has been our priority from day one. Our clients come to us because they value a highly professional, customer-focused, unrushed approach to eye-care and trust us with their eye health because we commit to using the most recent advances in optometry.
“The decision to broaden our services to include audiology was made some time ago, but we wanted to get it absolutely right before launching. We had to be certain we could deliver audiology to the same expected level as our award-winning opticians services. And that meant recruiting the best clinician to head up the division. After an extensive search, we found Luke who is driving this exciting new part of the business forward.”
Luke Baker, head of audiology at Dipple & Conway, is a member of the British Society of Hearing Aid Audiologists and the Health and Care Professions Council and has spent more than ten years working in the sector. Luke also understands the business side of audiology, having previously run his own company.
“Over 11 million people in the UK have some form of hearing loss and this is projected to rise to 15.6 million in the next ten years. Untreated hearing loss can lead to social isolation, cognitive decline and reduced quality of life,” explains Luke. “The Dipple & Conway audiology department offers a full range of hearing-care services, from initial free hearing screening tests for existing customers to full hearing assessments and ear wax removal.
“Hearing aid advice and fitting is a key part of our offering,” continues Luke. “According to the British Audiology Academy 6.7 million people could benefit from hearing aids but only about two million people use them. Our clients have access to the latest hearing aid technology, and we can provide them with the best possible advice to ensure their hearing aids change their life for the better.”
Dipple & Conway has a new-look logo, commissioned to mark the next chapter in its history. Customers can now see this at each of the branches.
The audiology appointment book is open for both existing and new Dipple & Conway clients. For more information visit dippleconway.co.uk.
