Registered Nurse Lilith Holdsworth set up La Sirena Wellness mobile massage and wellbeing service after serving in the British Army for more than a decade. Here, she explains how massage therapy has helped her through challenging periods in her life
Who are you and what do you do?
Hi, I’m Lilith, founder of La Sirena Wellness – a new and exciting mobile massage service based in Suffolk. I offer bespoke, relaxing and restorative massage treatments in the comfort of your own home, holiday let, garden or even workspace – there’s endless opportunities when the treatment comes to you!
Are you Suffolk born and raised? What do you love about living in the county?
I’m originally from a little village called Rowhedge in Northeast Essex, but my family hails from Suffolk, and I spent so much of my childhood traveling and exploring the county.
In 2019 I was fortunate enough to establish roots in East Suffolk and feel very lucky to now call this county my home. Suffolk really has something for everyone. I particularly love the landscape – there is something magical about those big skies!
When did you have the idea for La Sirena Wellness and what’s the thinking behind it?
The conception of La Sirena Wellness came to me in 2023. At the time I was working as a Nurse and had been in the Military for over a decade. In the past I had used massage therapy to help me through challenging periods of my life, particularly with work, so I wanted to combine this with my interest in alternative therapies, to help others.
I am a firm believer of accessibility and opportunities for all, which is why I have chosen to be mobile. I think it’s a privilege to be invited into someone’s home, welcomed into their safe space, and hopefully provide a service where their holistic needs have been met. We live in such a hectic and busy world where we often don’t prioritise our own health and wellbeing. This is something I would like to change, with home treatments allowing me to make it accessible to most!
What were you doing before and how has this shaped your thinking?
This year I left the Military after 12 years. During that time, I travelled the World as a Military Musician, but predominantly spent my time as a nurse, helping those overseas as well as those based in the UK. I qualified just before the pandemic and worked on the COVID-19 front line throughout, which has undoubtedly influenced who I am today. Witnessing firsthand how quickly your health can deteriorate, it really opened my eyes to the importance of prioritising it.
My time spent in the Military has taught me a lot about myself. In particular I have learnt to become resilient in stressful situations and learnt to just keep going. I know that I am not alone in this with most people facing stress in a multitude of ways throughout their daily lives. I know that the world I want to contribute to, is one where stress can be minimised.
When did you launch your mobile massage and wellbeing service, and how has it been received so far?
I finally launched La Sirena Wellness in May 2024; it has been a whirlwind since! It’s been really exciting to watch all my preparation and planning come to life – I can finally offer a service I feel passionate about. It is still early in my journey, but I am enjoying getting my name and message out there – it’s all part of the learning experience.
How can you help individuals and businesses with stress with your treatments?
The luxury of at-home treatments is that the stress of having to be somewhere is removed. Having worked in a few stressful situations myself, I am all too aware of the importance of prioritising your personal wellbeing. One of the benefits with being mobile means I can come into workspaces and provide this service whilst on a lunch break.
Work-related ill health is also a real problem, last year the HSE identified that around 6.6 million days were lost due to work-related ill health. To me it’s a no-brainer, to be able to offer a service that can go into a workspace and help with stress, anxiety, muscle aches and general wellbeing. This can only be a benefit to a business. Attitudes to wellbeing and wellness are also changing and gone are the days where staff wellbeing wasn’t a priority. I see myself as someone who wants to fly this flag for the cause.
How can people find out more?
You can find me on Instagram (@lasirena_wellness) as well as Facebook. Alternatively, you can book directly through my Fresha booking site. I am always open to discussions and conversations and can be reached on 07704 798081.
What are your hopes and dreams for your business?
I have lots of ideas I want to explore, but I am really excited to see where this takes me. I enjoy learning new techniques and I have just recently added pregnancy massage to my catalogue of treatments. In the near future I see myself exploring how sound therapy could be incorporated into my treatments. In the meantime, though I see myself establishing new client relationships whilst simultaneously developing those already in place.
