Simon Graham is the Manager of Norfolk Bound, which provides luxury holiday accommodation across North Norfolk, most notably at Little Massingham Manor. Ahead of an Open Day at the Arts and Crafts house, he explains more
Who are you and what do you do?
We are a family run business in Norfolk offering exquisite accommodation options, retreats, workshops and wellbeing services. We aim to bring people together to switch off from everyday life, create memories and get back to nature.
What has led you to Norfolk and what do you love about the county – North Norfolk in particular?
We have loved visiting North Norfolk for over 20 years. What started as visiting friends and enjoying the stunning North Norfolk coastline, has evolved into us spending as much time as we can with our young children in the area. Watching them grow up on some of the most beautiful beaches in the UK, whilst ourselves enjoying the picturesque villages and superb restaurants and pubs in the area, and wonderful accommodation, has been an absolute joy.
Norfolk Bound has emanated out of our desire to help others enjoy a similar special experience of North Norfolk and return home invigorated and with cherished memories. North Norfolk more than ever, really has something to offer for everyone.
When did you first have the idea for Norfolk Bound and what’s the thinking behind it?
Norfolk Bound is a family run business and so we have always had an interest in being able to grow as a unit and see the business flourish for many years to come. We want to be an inspiration to not only our own children, but for anyone owning a business to have an opportunity to work alongside us and grow our economy in Norfolk together. We recently became involved in the Veni Project, which is all about developing skills for the visitor economy and creating the capacity for stakeholders (educators, businesses and students) to work together to expand the skills horizon in Kings Lynn and West Norfolk. We are proud supporters of small business in Norfolk and so aim to bring as many people together as possible.
So, what IS Norfolk Bound/Little Massingham Manor all about?! And where are your other locations, accommodation-wise?
Little Massingham Manor is a stunning Arts and Crafts house, that has recently undergone a complete reinvention. It is nestled on a private estate, with 63 acres of woodland, professionally designed gardens and meadows to explore. We are delighted to now be able to offer both guest stays, and exclusive corporate/group bookings within the Manor (currently 6 bedrooms), and varying services and activities across the grounds. Our vision has been to build an exclusive and immersive experience surrounded by nature. We also have 4 on-site self-catering lodges and various holiday lets in North Norfolk, including Snettisham, South Creake and Little Snoring. Please do look at our website for more information on all of the options for you.
How important is health and wellness to you?
Health and wellness is a huge topic and growing sector within all of our lives – and it’s something that has always been very important for us to make sure this is accessible to as many people as possible. We put a huge emphasis on providing an immersive, relaxing experience in a tranquil, natural setting. Everything we do is designed to help guests unwind and recharge. We have a fantastic team of people working with and alongside us to make sure that everyone can enjoy their time in Norfolk with us. We understand that ‘health and wellness’ can mean different things to different people and so our offerings are incredibly varied to make sure each person gets what they need out of their time with us.
What is happening in September? Is it the first time you’ve had an Open Day and what can people expect on the day?
On Sunday 8th September we are opening our doors! We are thrilled to have this in the diary (it was a highly requested event) and are looking forward to welcoming people to have a browse of our stunning grounds.
We participated in North Norfolk Open Studios and thoroughly enjoyed meeting new people and being able to showcase our offerings here at The Manor. We feel it’s important for people to have the opportunity to look around and take in the space, the opportunities and to gain a feel for the type of break/retreat they could have here.
We will be here from 9am-5pm and will have other local businesses joining us on the day, too! Please do keep up to date with our socials for what you can expect on the day – we are working on this as we type.
What are your hopes and dreams for Norfolk Bound?
We know that the experiences we provide create everlasting memories for individuals, couples and families and so all we can hope for is that those experiences are ones that our guests want to have over and over again! Our focus is to grow our community by offering even more workshops and events, host corporate teams and large groups for a much-needed break in nature and to give hard working people more and more opportunity to take the break they deserve in our beautiful county.
Norfolk is brimming with the most wonderful people, places and activities – we are proud to be part of it!
