The changing of the seasons

September 16, 2022 Leave a Comment

Autumn is Vicki Harris of From Suffolk With Love’s favourite month. Here, she suggests these self-care ideas to keep cosy as the seasons change

Mid-September is upon us already and cosy season is fast approaching. I LOVE autumn, it’s my favourite season. With the leaves changing colours, snuggling up in a massive jumper and birthday celebrations all over the place (at least in my house), after the busyness of the summer, it’s good to settle down and start getting cosy.

Here are some self-care ideas to do just that:

Wrap up warm

Is there anything better than curling up with a good book on a rainy day? Time to dust off the blankets, plump up the cushions and let yourself get taken away to a magical place via the written word. For those extra chilly days ditch the plastic hot water bottle for a planet friendly wheat pillow and make it just a little bit more snuggly.

Light a candle

I love a candle over the autumn and winter months. It really helps to brighten that dark corner and lift your mood as the nights draw in again. Choose an autumnal scent to really set the mood.

Write it out

Take some time out for journalling. A good way to get all of those thought or ideas out of your head and on to paper. Phone notes just aren’t the same as writing things down. Or you may want to get a head start on the (dare I say it?!) Christmas lists. Either way, spending 10 minutes a day off-loading clears your head for other things.

A cup of something warm

Autumn conjures images of open fires and pumpkin spice lattes, from your local small business coffee shop of course. But coffee isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, so instead cosy up with a herbal tea, or a hot chocolate and that wheat pillow I mentioned earlier.

The COSY Box – From Suffolk With Love

Treat yourself

If you love the sound of all of these, I have put together some amazing cosy items from Suffolk’s best small businesses in The Cosy Box. You can choose between some beautifully hand knitted wrist warmers or a wheat pillow, complimented by a candle, a cute journal, some herbal tea, and some chocolate. Best of all it’s all plastic free, so you can enjoy some guilt free cosy time, or treat a friend! Don’t forget that Folk Features readers can use code FOLKFEAT10 at checkout for a cheeky discount too.

From Suffolk With Love is a planet-conscious, plastic-free gift box business, featuring carefully selected, handmade items from some of the best small producers in Suffolk. Visit The COSY Box.
