Paul and Ellie are behind Norwich-based Dreamy Ice Rolls, selling rolled ice cream and crêpes from a converted family-run trailer. With the weather finally starting to warm up, they explain how they juggle their new venture with their day jobs
We wanted to start a food trailer as we have worked on one before and thought it would a great family thing to work together on. Our daughter Katie had the idea of rolled ice cream as she watches them on TikTok. This meant the whole family got to work on converting the trailer to our specific need.
What were you doing before?
Dreamy Ice Rolls are only available at the weekends and evenings as Paul owns his own digger and demolition company and Ellie works for Headway Norfolk and Waveney brain injury charity during the week.
When did Dreamy Ice Rolls launch and how well has your ice cream gone down with customers since then?
Dreamy Ice Rolls launched on Thursday June 2, 2022, at the start of the Jubilee celebration weekend 2022. We have had fantastic feedback on our ice creams being delicious – and people love them so much our customers follow us around to all our events.
Can you describe your range? Do you also do vegan ice cream and do your source any of your ingredients locally?
We sell a range of flavours for our ice creams and always have a flavour of the month. We have favourite chocolate bars, indulgent biscuits and fruity flavours. Our crêpes have all the traditional favourites and a flavour of the month too. We can cater for vegan bookings in advance. Our fruit is always purchased from the local farm shop in the area we are catering for.
Where can people find you?
We are forever moving around and can be found in various locations which we advertise on our social media channels. We currently are working on an exciting web page but already have all social media channels. Facebook, Insta and TikTok accounts are all found by searching for @DreamyIceRolls.
Any plans for Dreamy Ice Rolls you can share?
