HR Consultant Gemma Crane is the Founder of Mindset-HR as well as an NLP Practitioner, Life Coach, and Mindset Coach. Here, the new key partner for Folk Features shares her journey
What led you to founding Mindset HR and what’s the thinking behind it?
I have worked with people for 25 years and find people fascinating. I became a Coach after having more of an understanding about the mindset whilst being on maternity leave and stepping back into more feminine energy. As I was on maternity leave, I wanted something else to do so found a MLM business and the work is predominantly mindset based. I was experiencing trauma in my life at this time and found The Law of Attraction by reading Rhonda Byrne’s book. This literally changed my life. From here on in, I studied life coaching and worked with many coaches and did lots of different courses. The final mentor was Bob Proctor – this was such a big investment in myself. Often, we invest in courses that gives us a skill, but we very rarely invest in ourselves and our mindset. And what I have learnt being a coach is that you can have all the skills in the world, but if you don’t have the self-belief and are holding limiting beliefs and habits then you will not be successful.
After having done this work and investing in myself over a good 10-year period, I released a lot of fears, limiting beliefs, subconscious blocks, habits that were no longing serving me and, of course, trauma.
Whilst I was meditating one morning, Mindset-HR was given to me, and I knew that this meant that our holistic approach to HR was needed in the business world. Post-Covid people’s expectations of what is required in employment has very much changed. Also, from a Generation Z perspective, expectation of employment has changed. People want to be part of a culture where they add value to the overall goal; want to understand how their role plays a part in this; want to feel an energetic pull and connection to who they work for; be in an environment that is positive and that their wellbeing is being considered as part of everyday work life. They want to feel passionate about their role and their tasks daily; have leadership that they can approach and have a voice. No longer do employees want to just work 9-5 and then go home. It is much more of a holistic partnership now.
What is your background in HR?
I have been in HR for 25 years, and have worked with various sectors and industries, including retail inc. New Look, Phone 4 U, QD Stores, manufacturing/engineering, sales, care, NHS, Norfolk and Suffolk Constabulary, education, hospitality and catering. I am level 7 qualified and have experience of both transactional and strategic HR.
What has happened in your professional and personal life to inspire you to set up the coaching side of your business?
I was in a narcissistic relationship for around 10 years and when I found mindset work and gained the self-love I needed to have the strength to walk away, this was life changing – and I wanted to share this with others. So, I have worked with clients on a one-to-one basis, to help with blocks and to gain more self-love – and during Covid I did group work online also. When I learnt that everything happens for you, not to you, this changed my whole outlook on life.
You’re also an Neuro-linguistic Programming practitioner and a Law of Attraction coach?
Yes. I was very fortunate to do my NLP practitioners course whilst being with a corporate business. They understood how NLP can help with improving communication and personal development. This is done by becoming aware of people’s patterns and behaviour and why people react differently to situations and circumstances. I practice Law of Attraction methods every day and this is a way of life for me now. This is energy and frequency lead. Whatever you focus your energy on will be what you attract into your life.
