One of the region’s largest art events, Art Fair East opens to the public tomorrow at The Assembly House in Norwich. Co-founder Will Teather explains why this year’s event is dedicated to Richard Hughes, the late Chef-Director of the city centre venue
Artists, galleries and art dealers from across the world have arrived in Norwich ready for Art Fair East which opens to the public tomorrow, in its tenth year. As one of the biggest contemporary art fairs outside of London, the event will host hundreds of artworks in the spectacular setting of The Assembly House. Celebrated local talents such as photographer Katha Wood and painter Colin Revell will be joining the fair alongside galleries from across the UK such as Art & Horse Racing Gallery from Newmarket, Clifton Fine Art from Bristol and Urban Art Store who specialise in street art.
Art Fair East offers the chance for people to meet artists and view their work and with all the art for sale, it’s a fantastic opportunity to choose a unique artwork for your home, to start Christmas shopping, or perhaps to invest in a future star of the art world.
The fair was founded in 2015 by leading Norfolk-based artists Will Teather and Brian Korteling, who will both be exhibiting at the event. Will says: ‘We are delighted to be able to host our 10th edition at The Assembly House, Norwich. We would like to dedicate this year’s fair to Richard Hughes, who was instrumental in making this happen. We hope we do you proud Richard.”
There will be well over 100 different artists’ work on display – with both individual artists as well as galleries who represent multiple artists from a particular genre. Gathered from across the UK and overseas, they will bring a slice of the art world to both seasoned and new art lovers.
Artists and gallery specialists will be on hand to chat to visitors and advise on collecting contemporary art, from affordable prints by recognised artists and new talent through to serious investments, including original paintings, prints, sculpture, photography and artworks made to commission.
Artworks typically start from £40 upwards for signed prints by emerging talent to tens-of-thousands of pounds for major pieces by established names.

Simon McIntyre says: ‘We are thrilled here at Musker McIntyre Estate Agents to be sponsoring Art Fair East again this year.
