Louise Thomas Skin Care was one of the recipients of this year’s Jarrolds Growth Fund. Here, Founder Louise Thomas-Minns explains how it is enabling her to expand the product line AND open a dedicated treatment space within The Retreat Beauty Rooms
First things first, can you give readers a quick reminder of who you are, what you do and the experience you have in the skincare industry?
Louise Thomas Skincare is a premium skincare brand founded by me, an experienced skin health therapist with over 28 years of expertise in skin health, product development, and education. I developed my unique 3D Skincare Philosophy, which integrates science, nutrition, and holistic practices to address diverse skin concerns like acne, rosacea, and premature ageing, and created my signature facial approach, treating thousands of faces over the years.
Driven by my personal struggle with chronic acne, I created a tailored skincare line focused on active ingredients and results-driven formulations. Launched in 2022, the range includes my signature Cleanser, Hero Serums, and Hydrator, designed to repair, protect, and transform skin.
Beyond my product line, I provide personalised treatments at my Skin Lounge alongside Mary Steward, and have now expanded to The Retreat in Jarrolds, ensuring customers receive expert care and education for radiant, healthy skin.
How has your relationship with Jarrolds developed over the years?
The relationship between Louise Thomas Skin Care and Jarrolds began in 2022 when Jarrolds introduced my products through their Store-Folk initiative, which supports local businesses by showcasing their products. This collaboration gave my brand greater visibility and introduced my skincare range to a broader audience.
In 2024, this partnership evolved further when I successfully secured £11,000 from the Jarrolds Growth Fund, enabling me to expand my product line. Jarrolds also invited me to open a dedicated treatment space within their newly renovated Retreat, marking a significant milestone. This expansion complements my existing skin therapy business, bringing my 3D Skincare Philosophy to more clients through bespoke treatments and expert guidance.
What is the Jarrolds Growth Fund and how is it helping your business?
The Jarrolds Growth Fund is a funding pot of £100,000 released every year to Norfolk businesses looking to propel their growth. After a Dragon’s Den style pitch, I was successful in securing the £11,000 to enable me to grow my skincare range, manufacturing the other two products in my capsule collection.
As well as the grant to allow us to bring two more products to market, Jarrolds have helped us tap into other resources. We were honoured when they asked us if we would like to expand Louise Thomas Skin Care by opening a dedicated skin treatment space within The Retreat, alongside our existing Skin Lounge on Unthank Road in Norwich.
What can people expect from Louise Thomas Skin Care at The Retreat?
Anyone visiting us at The Retreat will experience our signature approach to skincare, with services delivered by me or my colleague Mary, who is co-director of the new space. Our clients usually come to us with specific skincare concerns, such as hyperpigmentation, rosacea, acne or accelerated ageing. We create a bespoke solution for them based on what they can afford, in terms of both time and money. We cherry-pick products based on their ingredients and brands that align with our values. That way we can achieve the best possible results for everyone who invests in our services.
Whereabouts in Jarrolds can people find your products?
Louise Thomas Skin Care products can be found in the Beauty Hall, in skin care, and also within The Retreat.
What’s next for Louise Thomas Skin Care?
The latest Louise Thomas Skin Care product to be launched is Hero Serum #2 Soothe and Calm. One of the serum’s active ingredients is Tasmannia Lanceolata (Mountain Pepper). This hardy plant is an adaptogen that helps skin adapt to stress and environmental stressors.
The new serum is useful for anyone struggling with inflammation or redness in their skin. Applied onto clean skin, morning and night, before moisturiser, the serum can transform sensitive, dry or irritated skin. There will also be the launch of the fifth product next Spring.
