Together We Thrive day – Caister Playing Field, Norfolk

August 9 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm

With the summer holidays underway, people are being encouraged to take advantage of a range of free community activities focused on health and wellbeing.

Great Yarmouth Borough Council has been working with community groups and residents to launch its EAT Project in the Barrack Estate in the town and in Caister. The project aims to help people increase physical activity, eat well and improve their wellbeing.

As part of the project, Caister Playing Field Management Committee and Lonely Llama CIC are inviting people to attend a Together We Thrive day taking place at Caister Playing Field on Sunday, August 9, from 11am until 4pm. People are being urged to come along to enjoy a wide range of fun activities available through EAT and find out more about what is on offer in the borough.

Some of the initiatives underway as part of the EAT programme have included:

  • Healthy eating workshops across the borough in partnership with Norfolk County Council’s Adult Learning team.
  • Community cooking workshops delivered with the Feathers Futures charity to help people learn cooking skills.
  • Distribution of affordable recipe bags and recipe cards at cooking demos and community food stores.
  • Free physical activity taster sessions, including Zumba and Tai Chi.
  • Free health checks, for people to better understand and manage their health.
  • Nature walks for people to discover local green spaces and boost their physical and mental wellbeing.
  • Lifestyle medicine courses, designed to prevent and manage long-term health-related conditions.
