Free gaming bus and outdoor cinema events – Breckland market towns

Families across Breckland are invited to enjoy a summer of free fun and entertainment as a gaming bus and outdoor cinema screenings are set to visit the district’s five market towns this August.

Taking place during the school holidays, the events will bring family-friendly activities to Attleborough, Dereham, Swaffham, Thetford, and Watton, giving residents and visitors the chance to experience exciting activities while exploring their local town centres and supporting local businesses.

A gaming party van will visit each town centre, offering young people to the chance to play Mario Kart, FIFA, or Minecraft on the latest consoles in a safe, social environment. Meanwhile, the free outdoor movie screenings will transform green spaces into open-air cinemas, providing the perfect setting for families and friends to relax and watch a film together while also enjoying food from local vendors.

These events form part of a new year-long programme of events organised and funded by Breckland Council and designed to celebrate the district’s historic market towns. The project aims support local businesses, increase footfall to the five local towns, and bring communities together through a calendar of free activities and events for people of all ages to enjoy.

• Swaffham: Monday 24 August at Swaffham Market Place

• Thetford: Wednesday 26 August at Thetford Market Place

• Watton: Friday 28 August at Wayland House

• Swaffham: Tuesday 11 August at Campingland

• Watton: Wednesday 12 August at Watton Sports Centre

• Thetford: Monday 24 August (location TBC)

• Attleborough: Tuesday 25 August at Connaught Hall Park

• Dereham: Wednesday 26 August at The Meadows, Memorial Hall
