Service of Thanksgiving for honouring Thomas Clarkson – Playford Church, Kesgrave, Suffolk

Clarkson Week, a week of events celebrating Suffolk’s most important anti-slavery campaigner: Thomas Clarkson, aka The Rebel from Wisbech and Hero of Playford, culminates in the annual Service of Commemoration.
Special guests include:

– Pat Bruce-Browne, the Mayor of Ipswich
– John French, Suffolk Constabulary’s Modern Slavery Vulnerability Advisor
– Elma Glasgow, Heritage Producer and Engagement Specialist
– Ivy Scott, Suffolk Windrush Exhibition Lead and a Black History Consultant

The special service to honour the County’s most important abolitionist will be led by the Revd Canon Sharron Coburn, Diocesan Director of
Mission and Ministry; and Rev Gary Jones, local vicar – and will be followed by a ploughman’s lunch for all.

Service starts at 11am.
