Preparing for the Unexpected: Conversations on Life & Legacy, An evening with Nigel Hughes and Matthew Hutton – Sizewell Sports & Social Club

None of us knows what the future holds, but we can all be better prepared. In this thought-provoking and interactive evening, brought to you by Leiston Quaker Meeting, our host for the evening, Rachel Sloane, whom you may remember from BBC Radio Suffolk, will introduce two authors, each with an important story to tell about life, death and hope.

First you will hear Nigel Hughes talk about Cancer Patience, a book that describes his experience with cancer, the emotional ups and downs, and how he was supported by family and friends through his treatment and recovery. Nigel’s book aims to inspire anyone facing their own journey through ill health, as well as offering support. Nigel speaks from experience, and the heart, as he tells his very personal story.

For 35 years, Matthew Hutton was a solicitor dealing with Wills, tax & trusts and probate. Now a Church of England priest, his book Your Last Gift – Getting your Affairs in Order  draws on his experience of helping families cope when a loved one has died without leaving their affairs in order, with the potential for practical chaos. Matthew will share some of his thoughts on dealing with the practical aspects of bereavement and we hope, will encourage you to make sure that your loved ones aren’t left in a muddle when you are no longer there.
