Renowned Victoria String Quartet joins Norwich School musicians for special concert
Music in the Burnhams will host its first concert in Norwich this month, when it brings the renowned Victoria String Quartet to play with talented young musicians from Norwich School.
A registered charity formed in 2021, Music in the Burnhams aims to bring classical performances to a wider audience and has staged concerts featuring world-class classical artists in informal north-west Norfolk locations. Now, it is expanding its reach even further into Norwich.
As part of this new chapter in its concert schedule, the charity will welcome everyone to the beautiful Octagon Unitarian Chapel, in Colegate, on Tuesday 30th June at 6pm.
The concert also builds on a successful partnership with Norwich School, whose choir was invited to sing at the charity’s Celebration of Sir Karl Jenkins concert in King’s Lynn at the start of May, alongside the King’s Lynn Festival Chorus and the British Sinfonietta orchestra.
It also marks a continuation of Music in the Burnham’s support for Norfolk and Waveney Mind, as it aims to raise £20,000 this year to support wellbeing projects for young people.
Ticket sales from the concert will be donated to the charity.
The Victoria String Quartet formed in 2017 and rapidly established itself as one of the UK’s most sought-after chamber ensembles, regularly performing at venues and festivals including the Buxton International Festival.
During the concert, they will be joined by Norwich School’s own string quartet, the Almary Quartet, formed of pupils Min Ting Deng, Min Ying Deng, Isaac Schaad and Tommy Cahir.
The evening’s programme will also include performances by former pupils, Adam Possener (viola) and Millie Clark (flute), and current pupil Melissa Hawkins (horn), who have all participated in the school’s Making Musicians initiative. The programme aims to develop the very best musical talent within the school and the wider community through an annual series of workshops, lectures, visits and recitals.
