2024 Lloyds Bank Tour of Britain Men – Lowestoft to Felixstowe, East Suffolk

* STOP PRESS* British Cycling will be celebrating the career of Sir Mark Cavendish at the final stage of this year’s race, with Mark and his family attending in Felixstowe as guests of the race.
Lowestoft, Felixstowe, and East Suffolk are gearing up to host the final stage of the Lloyds Bank Tour of Britain Men on Sunday 8 September.
As well as over 100 of the world’s top cyclists battling it out for victory in the 20th edition of Britain’s biggest professional cycle race, East Suffolk will be welcoming fans to both locations with a range of free events and activities for all the family.
The vibrant seaside town of Lowestoft hosts the start of the race at 11am, but fans are encouraged to come down to the Royal Green from 9am, with a day of celebration and engaging activities, including live entertainment and workshops being put on by First Light Festival and East Point Pavilion to ensure a memorable day.
Felixstowe hosts a stage finish of Britain’s national Tour for the second successive September, but this year the prestigious final stage, which is expected to finish on Sea Road at around 3:06pm.
Lowestoft
Organised by First Light Festival in partnership with East Suffolk Council, the day’s events run from 9am to 3pm in Lowestoft, centred upon the Royal Green next to East Point Pavilion, where the professional teams will begin to arrive just after 09am.
Each of the 18 competing teams will be presented to the crowd on the podium between 9:50am and 10:50am, ahead of the stage starting at 11am. After the race leaves the day full of fun, sport and community activities will continue, including:
  • A BMX pump track, allowing participants of all ages to test their skills and enjoy the thrill of BMX riding.
  • A series of creative and educational workshops will be hosted by First Light Festival, National Literacy Trust, and Books and Prints who will be offering a make your own cycle print workshop.
  • Way to Go Suffolk, Access Sport, and Everyone Active will be running a variety of activities designed to engage and entertain visitors of all ages. From sports and fitness challenges to fun games and interactive sessions.
  • Royal Green will host a fantastic line-up of live music. Kicking off with Lowestoft favourites, The John Ward Trio, the outside stage will welcome a host of local bands and artists will keep the energy high and the crowd entertained throughout the day.
  • East Point Pavilion’s traders will be open throughout serving a diverse range of delicious treats, street food and refreshing beverages. Whether you’re in the mood for a hearty meal or a light snack, there’s something to satisfy every palate.
Felixstowe
The finish area and fan village on Sea Road in Felixstowe will host a range of free activities throughout the day for fans awaiting the finish, which is expected between 2:33pm and 3:28pm.
Circus performances will keep fans entertained, while there will be a 10km community ride, starting and finishing from Sea Road, the finish of the Richard Bennett Felixstowe Coastal 10m run, and balance bike activities on the finish straight for the next generations of cyclists.
The fan village will also include a presence from race title sponsors Lloyds Bank, plus British Cycling partner’s Alé Cycling, Vittoria, Ridgeback, and Shimano, with the latter providing free bike safety checks for fans, plus the chance to try food from Lloyds Bank Tour of Britain Men hospitality partners Gaucho.
Spectators can also enjoy a drink from Lucky Saint, the UK’s #1 dedicated alcohol-free beer, as they follow the ITV4 live action on the big screen
Away from the finish line, viewers should look out for the eye-catching artwork created by pupils at Langer Primary Academy in Felixstowe with help from local artist Jim Lait, to celebrate the final stage of the Lloyds Bank Tour of Britain Men.
