Stephen Collman is the CEO at Norfolk Community Health and Care NHS Trust. With the return of the staff recognition awards following a three-year break, he is keen to hear from members of the public wishing to nominate a community healthcare professional who has gone above and beyond
Norfolk Community Health and Care NHS Trust has announced the return of its REACH Awards: a celebratory awards event Recognising Excellence and Achievement in Community Healthcare within our county. Throughout Norfolk, the Trust’s 2,500-strong staff provide health and care services to around 900,000 people in their homes and local communities from more than 70 different service locations, delivering everything from the Stroke Rehabilitation Service to Children’s Occupational Therapy; Diabetes Services to Hospice at Home.
With ten categories, the REACH Awards allow staff to nominate their colleagues to ensure they achieve the professional recognition they deserve.
But as well as vital peer acknowledgement, NCH&C believes it is important for patients to have their say and nominate an individual or a team who have gone above and beyond to make a positive difference to their lives, their health and wellbeing.
The Patient Choice Award recognises a clinical team or individual staff member that has made an outstanding difference to the lives of their patients and their families. Anyone who has experienced services delivered by NCH&C can make a nomination, to thank an NHS worker or group of colleagues who have made a significant and unforgettable difference to them.
Stephen Collman, CEO at NCH&C, explains: ‘It is not an over-statement to say that without our people we are nothing. The last two and a half years have been incredibly challenging for everyone within the Trust, so it has never been more important to publicly recognise and celebrate the achievements of the teams and individuals that are delivering exceptional health and care services in the Norfolk community every day.
‘We are proud of all our staff members and every role within Norfolk Community Health & Care Trust is valuable,’ he continues, ‘so we really want to hear from patients, families, carers, and people in our local communities about their personal, positive experiences. Which member of our team deserves special recognition for the difference they have made by providing outstanding care? Now is the chance for patients to have their say.’
Anyone wishing to nominate an NCH&C staff member for the Patient Choice Award should visit the REACH Awards website. To make a nomination, describe in no more than 200 words who you would like to thank and why. Nominations can also be submitted by post to: REACH Awards, 0.32 Woodlands House, Norwich Community Hospital, Bowthorpe Road, Norwich NR2 3TU. Include the full name of the individual or team you are nominating and their department or ward (if known). Please also include your name, address, and contact details. The closing date for nominations is Sunday 28 August 2022. Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on Thursday 27 October at the Forum in Norwich as part of the NCH&C’s national Community Health & Care Day exhibition. The free public exhibition runs from Wednesday 26 October to Tuesday 2nd November 2022 and features paintings, photography and artwork telling the story of community healthcare in Norfolk. From its ‘roots’ in district nursing to the current lived experiences and challenges faced by specialist staff across a wide range of clinical disciplines, as they have supported Norfolk through the harshest stages of the Covid pandemic and beyond. Sponsors are still being sought for the REACH Awards ceremony. Confirmed sponsors so far include Adnams, Saxon Digital Services, InHealthcare, and NCH&C’s Charitable Fund. Any businesses interested in sponsoring a category, and playing a part to say thank you to NHS workers in Norfolk, please contact REACHAwards@NCHC.nhs.uk
