This month, Vicki Harris of From Suffolk With Love is in a celebratory mood. Not only has the plastic-free champion sold her 400th gift box – her planet-conscious business is about to turn two!
In June, From Suffolk With Love will be two! In some ways it’s hard to believe, as it’s gone so quickly but in other ways it feels like I’ve been doing this forever. I started the business during the lockdowns in 2020 and the idea came about as I wanted to send plastic free pamper gifts to friends but couldn’t seem to find exactly what I wanted. Plastic free gifts seem to comprise of a toothbrush set or perhaps a set of natural deodorants. If I wanted to put together a pamper set, I would have to buy the items separately and put them together myself.
As I thought the idea over and started doing some research, I realised that I was already using some of the items that I love, and they came from right here in Suffolk.
I wanted to support local businesses, especially through the pandemic, and the more I searched the more I found. There are so many amazing makers right here on our doorstep.
So FSWL was born, and I have just marked my 400th sale which I couldn’t be happier about. As a lovely person reminded me, that is 400 plastic-filled gift sets that I have saved the planet from – what an achievement!
It’s safe to say I’ve learnt a lot over the last two years and still there are so many challenges, but I love that each day is different and the freedom that having your own business affords. I get to have my beach walks.
I started with two gift boxes, The BLISS Box which is still my best seller and the Calm Box which is no longer in commission – as I said, it’s a learning curve! I now have 16gift boxes to choose from, including mini boxes for that smaller something, and I have a ‘Pick Your Own’ option available for both him and her, so you can get that truly unique gift that you know they’ll love. I really appreciate everyone’s support and really look forward to what the next two years may bring for my little business.
