Norwich Unity Hub becomes a Key Partner

Sarah King, Business Development Manager of Norwich Unity Hub

Norwich Unity Hub, the community of social enterprises based at Carrow House, is the latest Key Partner for Folk Features! Business Development Manager Sarah King explains what readers can look forward each month

For those not in the know, what is Norwich Unity Hub?

Norwich Unity Hub is a collaborative workspace and membership community supporting the VCSE sector in Norwich. Based at Carrow House, it brings together charities, social enterprises and creatives in a shared, affordable environment designed to encourage collaboration, resource-sharing and innovation. By repurposing under-used buildings and operating a sustainable, subsidised cost model, Norwich Unity Hub creates accessible space for organisations to grow while strengthening the wider community.

How many organisations are under the Hub’s umbrella, and what do they all have in common?

We’re proud to share that Carrow House is currently at full capacity, home to 25 resident VCSE organisations and 28 artist members based in purpose-built studios on the top floor of New Carrow House. Alongside these, we have a growing wider membership community – currently 50 organisations and individuals paying just £10/month – who benefit from access to our network, collaboration opportunities and discounted room hire. What they all share is a commitment to social impact, creativity and community, and a desire to be part of a collaborative ecosystem where space, ideas and resources are shared.

Where are you all based?

We’re incredibly lucky to be based at Carrow House in central Norwich, a site that combines two key spaces: New Carrow House, a purpose-built five-storey office block perfectly suited to our residents’ needs, and Old Carrow House, a beautiful mansion that was once home to the Colman family of the Colman’s Mustard empire. When we took on the building, we calculated running costs per square metre to ensure fair charges for our residents, but costs were still high. To keep workspace affordable, we hire out the stunning rooms in Old Carrow House, and the income generated is reinvested to subsidise our members’ costs.

What appealed to Norwich Unity Hub about becoming a Key Partner of Folk Features?

It was an easy decision! In a world saturated with negative news, sharing positive, factual, unbiased stories is more important than ever. At Norwich Unity Hub, we see lives being transformed by our community every day, and we know how challenging it can be for organisations facing funding pressures, capacity issues, and growing demand for services. Becoming a Key Partner of Folk Features allows us to support their mission to change the narrative, highlighting the incredible work happening across Norfolk and Suffolk and inspiring readers with stories of hope and impact.

What can readers look forward to each month, in the Key Partner column?

Each month, readers can look forward to behind-the-scenes news from Carrow House, sneak peeks at upcoming plans, and stories that show how our community is making a real difference.
