Uplifting stories for Norfolk and Suffolk
Green-fingered residents are being invited to grab a shovel and help themselves to some free compost made from garden waste collected from bins across East Suffolk.
A ‘Shovel It Yourself’ event is set to take place from 10am to 2pm on Friday 10 May in the car park at The Grove in Felixstowe.
As part of International Compost Awareness Week, and as a mark of gratitude for their ongoing recycling efforts, East Suffolk residents will have the chance to take home some compost donated by processing company Envar.
The event, similar to events previously held in Lowestoft and Leiston, will also promote the principle of home composting and the subsidised home composting offers for Suffolk’s residents.
The free compost will be subject to availability on the day of the event. Residents are welcome to take some for family members or neighbours who would otherwise find it difficult to access the event. Small trailers are permitted but anyone living within walking distance is asked to consider leaving the car at home and use a wheelbarrow.
