DigiFest – Norfolk Libraries

February 1 - February 28

DigiFest, an annual celebration of digital creativity in Norfolk libraries, returns throughout February. With free events for children and young people aged up to 16, there is something for every aspiring digital mind.

Aiming to inspire the next generation of coders and creators, DigiFest forms part of Norfolk County Council’s digital inclusion strategy and helps hundreds of children develop essential skills, build confidence and have fun.

Next month, over 130 free events will take place across Norfolk libraries. Children and young people are being encouraged to try their hand at stop-motion animation, learn basic coding skills with different robots, find out more about AI, and more.

Most sessions will be run by library staff, but there will be some sessions run by partners including:

  • Cyber Shields: Storytime and Craft in partnership with Tech Skills for Life (10 February, Dereham Library; 11 February, Watton Library) – story time, information and craft activity to create ‘Cyber Shields’ while learning how to be protected in the digital world.
  • Robot coding with ICT solutions, Norfolk’s experts in introducing children to technology (16 February, Great Yarmouth Library; 17 February, Sprowston Library; 18 February, Millennium Library; 19 February, Wymondham Library) – have fun coding Sphero robots to play football.
  • Cybersecurity Escape Room with Norfolk Constabularies (19 February; Great Yarmouth Library) – step into the shoes of a detective and race against time to solve the case.
  • Virtual reality headset demonstrations in partnership with Adult Learning (19 February, Cromer Library; 20 February, Great Yarmouth Library).
  • AI workshop in partnership with Adult Learning (19 February, Cromer Library; 20 February, Great Yarmouth Library) – use Google Studio to design your own website or app.

DigiFest runs from 1-28 February, with many of the events and activities falling in half-term week. All events are free, but most require pre-booking – find out more at www.norfolk.gov.uk/digifest
