St Mary-le-Tower Church is set to welcome the community to its highly anticipated Christmas Tree Festival, marking the beginning of the countdown to the church’s historic designation as Ipswich Minster on 19 January 2025.
This festive event will shine a light on the church’s rich heritage, community spirit, and its future as a Minster for the town.
The Christmas Tree Festival will run from the 29 November to the 8 December, transforming the church into a dazzling display of festive creativity.
Local schools, businesses, and community groups have come together to decorate over 100 Christmas trees, each telling a unique story of hope, joy, and community. Visitors will enjoy a magical atmosphere with twinkling lights, live music, and seasonal refreshments.
The festival represents more than just a celebration of Christmas—it is a key moment in the lead-up to the church’s Minster designation, an honour that reflects its central role in the life of Ipswich and Suffolk. On 19 January 2025, St Mary-le-Tower Church will officially become Ipswich Minster, marking a new chapter in its history and deepening its mission to serve the town.
The Christmas Tree Festival will also include special performances from local choirs and musicians, a children’s activity corner, and a craft fair showcasing unique gifts. Proceeds from the festival will support the church’s ongoing community programs.
