Charlie Dore with Stephen Foster – Talking Music – John Peel Centre, Stowmarket

February 27

Acclaimed British singer-songwriter Charlie Dore will appear in Stowmarket on Friday 27 February for a special Talking Music evening with broadcaster Stephen Foster at the John Peel Centre for Creative Arts. Best known for her classic hit Pilot Of The Airwaves, Charlie Dore has built an extraordinary songwriting career spanning more than four decades. Her songs have been recorded by artists including George Harrison, Tina Turner, Celine Dion, Ricky Ross and Paul Carrack, while her own recordings and live performances continue to draw critical praise for their wit, insight and emotional depth.

Described by The Guardian as “brave, poignant, entertaining, original” and hailed by Americana UK as “one of this country’s finest songwriters”, Dore is celebrated for work that moves fluidly between folk, Americana, jazz and art-pop, pairing sharp observation with warmth and humour.

In conversation with long-time radio presenter Stephen Foster, she will reflect on her creative life from the 1970s to the present day, sharing stories of collaborations, songwriting craft and the changing music landscape. The evening will also feature live performances of selected songs, offering audiences a rare opportunity to hear the stories and the music side by side.

Stephen Foster’s Talking Music series brings audiences closer to influential artists through relaxed, in-depth conversation and performance. Charlie Dore’s appearance marks a special installment with one of the UK’s most distinctive and enduring songwriting voices.
