Community hub grows from The Seed of an idea

Ellie Fryer and Mimi Emmett are Co-founders of The Seed, a new space for hot desking, events and more at Creake Abbey in Norfolk. Here, they explain how their idea is blossoming into a vibrant community hub

Who are you and what do you do?

We are Ellie and Mimi. Ellie is a social media and marketing expert, and Mimi is a product developer in the fashion industry. 

Are you both Norfolk born and raised? What do you love about the county? We are! We love living in Norfolk and feel so lucky to be able to call it home. The beaches are beautiful and there’s lots of great restaurants and pubs. 

When did you first have the idea for The Seed and what’s the thinking behind it? What were you both doing before?

We both had the shared vision and idea of the shared creative co working space initially due to both working from home in rural Norfolk and finding it can be quite isolating. We wanted the seed to become a hub for entrepreneurs, creatives, and anyone who works from home and wanted to feel a bit more part of a community! 

When did it launch – and how is it all going so far?

We launched in May and it’s going really well. We have had an amazing response, and we are finding lots of holiday homeowners or holiday makers are using the space for working too which is great! 

How would you describe The Seed community- and what can the space be used for?

The Seed community is a space to support and focus on working and building relationships. The space can be used for creative workshops, networking events and even pop-up shops at the weekend! The space can be also used for fitness classes and retreats.

What are your hopes and dreams for The Seed?

We want to re-invent the way you can work through our space: flexibility, whilst having more of a social life, whilst doing so in the rural countryside. We can’t wait for more of you to discover us and use our serene space!
