Former police trainer Jason Keeley is the Managing Director at IKON Training, based in Ipswich, which offers conflict resolution courses for people in frontline roles. Here, he explains how the goal is not just to improve workplaces but build better communities
What led you to establish IKON Training – and what were you doing before?
Before diving into the world of IKON Training, I was working as a police trainer. The lightbulb moment came when I provided some training for local doctors’ surgeries. That’s when it hit me – there’s a demand for this training. So, I took the leap and founded IKON.
What does IKON Training specialise in for those not in the know?
We empower people across various industries to feel safer and more confident and provide them with the skills to manage conflict – IKON is helping to create a more positive and productive workplace and, ultimately, a better community for everyone. In essence, we’re not just improving workplaces but building better communities.
For over 19 years, we’ve trained various sectors, from education and healthcare to retail, transport, charity, and local government.
Our training helps individuals to:
– Understand and manage conflict effectively
– De-escalate and resolve challenging situations
– Protect themselves and others from harm
– Build positive relationships and create a safe, respectful workplace
How does IKON Training positively impact people’s lives in frontline roles in the NHS, East Anglia, and beyond?
Our mission is simple: we want people to feel safe and confident at work. We collaborate with organisations in both the public and private sectors, empowering their teams to handle challenging behaviour more effectively.
How does IKON Training help people feel safe and confident at work?
IKON Training is all about boosting workplace safety and confidence. We do this by arming employees with the skills, knowledge, and resources they need to excel. A well-trained, confident team is more effective and contributes to a safer and more productive work environment.
Where is the company based, and what organisations has it helped?
Our head office is just on the outskirts of Ipswich, and our reach is national. Locally, we’ve made a difference for Greater Anglia, Suffolk County Council, Ipswich Town Football Club, over 40 Suffolk Schools, and various NHS trusts within East Anglia. Nationally, we’ve worked with renowned names such as The Royal Marden NHS Trust, Marie Curie, Center Parcs, and MIND.
Any future projects you can share?
Absolutely, we’ve got some exciting things brewing! We’re in the process of creating a cutting-edge, fully digitised training platform that’s not only more efficient but also eco-friendly. This platform will support a vibrant community of learners, allowing them to collaborate, share best practices, and draw from lived experiences. Our ultimate goal is to empower communities to navigate an increasingly conflict-ridden world confidently. Keep an eye out for more updates on this front!
