For this month’s Press Pause feature, Menopause Specialist Nurse Victoria Howell looks forward to the second Women’s Health Education Network Norfolk Annual Conference, taking place at The Nest near Norwich this Saturday – and is inviting other health care professionals to get involved
The Women’s Health Education Network Norfolk (WHENN), a pioneering initiative co-founded in October 2022, is continuing to make significant strides in women’s health education. The mission over the past 18 months has been to equip healthcare professionals working in primary care settings with the knowledge and resources they need to address the unique needs of women throughout their lives.
The inaugural conference in April 2023 was deemed a resounding success, when healthcare providers from diverse backgrounds converged to explore the latest strategies and insights.
This Saturday (April 20), WHENN will host its second annual conference at The Nest, near Norwich, and promises to be another pivotal moment in women’s health education. Following a welcome by Chair Dr Kate Ashdown-Nicol, the conference agenda will span a wide range of critical topics, including a deep dive into Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for managing symptoms such as hot flushes, night sweats, anxiety, and sleep difficulties.
Dr Vikram Talaulikar, a distinguished authority, will deliver a keynote address on the complexities of hormone management after breast cancer. And additional sessions will cover premature ovarian insufficiency, endometriosis, and other gynaecological issues related to hormone health. Tickets for the event are £5 – ensuring that as many healthcare professionals as possible can benefit from invaluable training. The conference will be funded by Pharma (with no input into the clinical content), and all proceeds from the event will directly contribute to the Menopause Research and Education Fund.
