The Seasons Speak – Grapes Hill Community Garden

October 2 @ 1:00 pm - 7:00 pm

The Seasons Speak is an exhibition and soundscape of nature inspired poems and naturally dyed colours.
The hand-stitched and woven textiles are inspired by a seasonal cycle of poems written by Dorothy Amery, who has now sadly died. The poems and accompanying hangings celebrate Dorothy’s life and her deep love of nature. The textiles will be hung in Grapes Hill Community Garden, with cord hand-twined from day lily leaves. Many of the textiles have been hand-dyed using natural plant materials from Waterloo Park.

Come and view the exhibition anytime between 1pm and 7pm.
(It is also an opening gardening session until around 3pm, so you are welcome to join in with some gardening if you like, no obligation).

From 5pm we will gather around a fire to listen to and read poems. We are lucky to have Patrick Widdess who will bring some of his poetry and is inviting us to bring our own poetry to read around the fire. Snacks and hot drinks will be available. Think pop corn, chai and hot chocolate.

More details or to let us know you are coming to the fire event, so we have enough chairs ,snacks and drinks. feel free to bring your own chair and and snacks to share.
