Geoff Bligh is co-founder of Hank’s Dirty, the 100% vegan fast food business which has just announced that it is opening a restaurant in Norwich this summer! Here he explains why he thinks the future of ALL food is vegan – and why every city could have a Hank’s one day…
Can you remind readers who you are and what you do?
We’re Hank’s Dirty – and we deliver 100% vegan fast food! We’ve got restaurants in Ipswich, Felixstowe, Colchester and are soon-to-be in Norwich.
When you were first featured, Hank’s Dirty had recently opened at Beach Street Felixstowe – how has it been received?
Beach Street has had an incredible first year. The whole of Beach Street has been an incredible success and the restaurant exceeded all our expectations even in the winter.
What has happened since with Hank’s Dirty? Was Colchester next?
We opened in Colchester in August of last year, and it’s been going great since day 1! We’ve certainly entered a more challenging time right now, with costs soaring, but we’re pleased to say that more and more people are enjoying Hank’s which is great!
Norwich is getting a Hank’s Dirty, which is very exciting. What can you tell us about it and when do you hope to open?
Norwich is our next location! We can’t reveal the exact location just yet, as it’s an exciting new development that will be announced soon. You won’t have to wait too long to find out though, as it should be open in August of this year! You can always follow us on Facebook and Instagram to find out where it will be and when it will officially open.
Where’s next, do you think?
To be honest, we don’t know what the next steps could be. There is so much uncertainty in the economy now it makes it tough to plan next moves – but every city could have a Hank’s one day…
Is the future of fast-food vegan (if you have your way)?
I think the future of ALL food is vegan. Our planet is in dire straits and the time to change is now. The choice in vegan food is better than it’s ever been. It’s becoming easier and easier to make vegan choices. When companies like Burger King are saying they aim to have 20-30% of their menu be plant based by 2030 then I think it speaks volumes about where we are heading.
Hank’s Dirty can be found in the following locations: Ipswich (66-68 St. Helen’s St); Beach Street Felixstowe (Micklegate Rd); and Colchester (7 Culver St West). Hank’s Dirty Norwich is likely to open in August 2022.
