Mel Cook is the PR & Marketing Manager at VisitNorwich. With a new Channel 4 series, Best of Britain by the Sea, featuring Norfolk later this month, she believes the ‘perfect pairing’ of foodie hosts Ainsley Harriott and Grace Dent will inspire us to appreciate what’s right here on our doorstep
Finally. I’m delighted to say that we have been working with Blink Films UK for over 18 months to bring Best of Britain by the Sea to Norwich and Norfolk. This brand-new food and travel series hosted by Ainsley Harriott and Grace Dent has been a wonderful experience and to be able to proudly share with them and the nation all that is great and good about Norwich, the City of Stories and our county makes my heart sing.
Ainsley and Grace are a perfect pairing in my eyes. Full of fun, eager to travel, bursting with knowledge and lots of energy. And they are proud of what the UK has to offer. If this doesn’t inspire you to domestically get out and travel, sightsee, eat and drink – then I don’t know what will.
Our episode draws the viewer into their cosy conversations and observations. You’re eavesdropping yet part of the show. It’s intimate, and it’s funny. We’ve made this happen in a paid partnership. And it wouldn’t have been possible without Norwich Business Improvement District/VisitNorwich working alongside our industry colleagues at Visit Great Yarmouth/Greater Yarmouth Tourism and Business Improvement Area Ltd and Norfolk County Council’s EXPERIENCE project. The project promotes all year-round visitors to parts of Norfolk that are off the beaten track and celebrates and protects our natural and cultural assets.
In Norwich see behind the scenes at The Assembly House, dine at Benedicts and explore Norwich Market and Elm Hill. Leisurely motor in the Broads, be at one with nature. In Great Yarmouth, let your hair down, remember your inner child, laugh and eat chips. It’s beautifully shot. It’s wonderful.
It’s taken a long time, but it has certainly been worth it. We saw the potential in this new show and Blink Films have done an amazing job. It’s great to see VisitNorwich Investment Partners, The Assembly House, Benedicts and Norwich Market feature – proudly sharing what they do best with a large national audience. I have no doubt many people will want to come to Norwich for a city break inspired by the show’s content.
The Norwich and Great Yarmouth episode of Best of Britain by the Sea will air on Monday May 30 on More4 at 9pm and will be repeated on Channel 4 at 4.30pm on Sunday June 5.
