Jessie Buckley is the latest Patron for Norfolk Screen

Academy Award Winner Jessie Buckley has become the latest Patron of Norfolk Screen, it was announced today. Here, Jessie explains why she loves the county

Norfolk Screen is delighted to announce that Jessie Buckley, one of the most acclaimed performers, has become the organisation’s latest patron. Jessie’s appointment marks another significant moment for the region’s growing screen sector, strengthening Norfolk Screen’s mission to champion the county as a destination for film and television production. An Academy Award, Actor Award, Golden Globe, and Critics’ Choice Award winner, Buckley brings exceptional creative pedigree and international visibility.

Since her breakout role in Michael Pearce’s BAFTA‑nominated Beast, she has built a remarkable body of work across film, television, and theatre including The Lost Daughter, Cabaret, Fargo, Chernobyl, I’m Thinking of Ending Things, and Wild Rose. Most recently, her acclaimed performance as Agnes Shakespeare in Chloé Zhao’s Golden Globe‑winning Hamnet earned her a sweep of major awards, cementing her status as one of the most compelling performers working today.

Speaking about her connection to the region, Jessie Buckley said: “Norfolk is very different from where I grew up in Ireland, but when I meet that black earth and realise that this land used to be underwater it does something to me! I love returning home to Norfolk… to a quiet, mysterious and deeply beautiful cinematic landscape that takes me somewhere I don’t ever expect. I’m proud to be a patron of Norfolk Screen, whose work is helping to spotlight this remarkable region and its growing appeal for film and TV production.”

Norfolk Screen, supported by Norfolk County Council, acts as the official film office for the region, supporting incoming productions, promoting local crew and suppliers, and championing Norfolk as a dynamic, accessible, and visually rich filming destination.

Craig Higgins, Development Director and Co-Founder of Norfolk Screen, welcomed the announcement, saying: “Jessie’s creative achievements and her genuine love for Norfolk make her a wonderful patron for the region. Her support will help us continue to strengthen the county’s screen sector. As a service we are very lucky to have additional patron support from Oliva Colman, Bill Nighy, Sienna Guillory and Rupert Everett. We are honestly, thrilled to receive such wonderful support from those incredible artists in the business.”
