Sails & Ales – East Point Pavilion, Lowestoft

East Point Pavilion is delighted to present Sails & Ales, a free-entry, 1-day celebration of the rich maritime heritage of Lowestoft from past to present. Set against the Pavilion’s dramatic coastal backdrop, the day will feature live music, demonstrations, a seafood BBQ, seafaring ales, stalls, and  performances that bring the town’s seafaring spirit to life.
The day starts at 11.30am with storytelling kicking off the packed programme of live entertainment. Live music will be on offer throughout the day from Svetla, Lowestoft Longshoremen, and Milton Hide, plus there will be demonstrations and stalls from Lowestoft Maritime Museum, Excelsior Trust, Mincarlo, Barge Number 9, and the RNLI.
A delicious seafood BBQ will be on offer throughout the day provided by local fisherman Colin De Block, plus local ales including Lacons Encore, Adnams Ghost Ship and Verdant Lightbulb on tap, plus bottled beers including St Peters Brewery Golden Ale 4.7%, St Peters Organic Best Bitter 4.1% , St Peters India Pale Ale 5.5%, Adnams Southwold Bitter and Adnams Ghost Ship AF.
The celebration doesn’t end when the sun goes down. In the evening, you can enjoy a special evening concert featuring the John Ward Trio and The Rogue Shanty Buoys. Expect soaring harmonies, powerful storytelling, and foot-stomping sea shanties celebrating East Anglia’s folk traditions.

With the John Ward Trio’s lyrical depth and the Rogue Shanty Buoys’ infectious enthusiasm, this unique concert promises laughter, singalongs, and a celebration of coastal culture that will leave you smiling long after the final chorus.
