‘Yare Beat – The Greatest Hits’ – Great Yarmouth Heritage Guides talk

February 11

People are being invited to discover more about Great Yarmouth’s fascinating history with six new talks by the town’s Heritage Guides.

The one-hour talks take place at 1pm on the second Tuesday of January, February, March, October, November and December at the Town Hall in Great Yarmouth. Each talk costs £5.50 per person to attend and includes a hot drink on arrival and the chance to ask questions at the end.

In the first session – which is already fully booked – on January 14, people will find out about witch trials that took place in Great Yarmouth.

The second talk, entitled ‘Yare Beat – The Greatest Hits’, takes place on February 11. Guests will be entertained with a history of rock and pop across Great Yarmouth and Gorleston.

The third event, entitled ‘Great Women from Great Yarmouth’, takes place on March 11 and pays tribute to inspirational women from the borough and is in honour of International Women’s Day.

Talks taking place later in the year include ‘Pablo Fanque and the Victorian Circus’ on October 14, ‘Behind the Screens – Amphibious Tanks of Fritton Lake and D-Day’, on November 11 and ‘Ghost Stories of Great Yarmouth’ on December 9.
