Posh Club – Ipswich Town Hall

June 4 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

250 swanky Suffolk senior citizens, elegant elders and glamorous golden girls are expected
at Ipswich Town Hall for a posh knees-up on Tuesday 4 June 2024, 12 noon to 3pm.
The Posh Club is a glitzy performance and social club for older people aged 60+, founded
by the London artist collective Duckie. Duckie, who have run The Posh Club in venues
across London and the South East for over a decade, typically feature a spectacular variety
show, afternoon tea with a glass of fizz, social intercourse, and a light discotheque plus
dancing, all with an emphasis on dressing up, live performance and social connectivity.
The Posh Club is now coming to Ipswich for the very first time, thanks to a new partnership
with Ipswich-based arts organisation SPILL Festival. Tickets to the event have sold out in
record time.

A multi-generational team of volunteers from across East Anglia has been enlisted to help
greet guests and serve the afternoon tea. The UK’s premier Shirley Bassey tribute act,
Shirley Classy, will be performing, along with joyful carnival dances from Ipswich
performer Rosy May, and a brilliant skit on one of the famous “Dirty Dancing” film scenes
from acclaimed queer cabaret collective Pink Suits.

Although The Posh Club is exclusively for guests aged 60+, volunteers of all ages (18+) are
always welcome. To register your interest, contact becca@theposhclub.co.uk.
The Posh Club is funded by Arts Council England, Ipswich Borough Council, Suffolk County
Council, People’s Postcode Lottery & Ashton’s Charitable Trust. Additional support has
been generously provided by ActivLives.
