An event in Norwich in February will hear from branding expert Robert Jones about why he has identified Norwich as a hotspot for branding, and why he established Brandland to celebrate this.
Jones began his career at global branding agency Wolff Olins, and now works as an independent consultant to leading brands in the UK and across the world. His client base takes in a wide range of sectors and includes Aviva, Barclays, Camelot, Historic Royal Palaces, Oxfam, PwC, National Trust, Tate, Tesco, Virgin and Wikipedia.
In 2009 he established the world’s only MSc in Brand Leadership at Norwich Business School, UEA and in 2021 he moved from London to live full time in North Norfolk. Jones was excited by the history of branding in Norwich, and the number of brands who originated here, and identified a potential economic cluster in the city. In 2020 he founded Brandland to showcase this, and to begin building a professional and social network in the region.
This will be Brandland’s 23rd event, since it was established in October 2020. The first few events took place online, but they have since transitioned to happen in person and are always lively and well-attended, attracting a cross-sector audience including designers, strategists and creatives working in agencies, freelance roles and in organisations across the region. The recent Brandland Conference, in November 2023, welcomed 170 delegates to sessions led by local and national brands including Primark, Girlguiding UK, Bird + Blend Tea, The Feed and Million Tree Pledge.
A Life in Brand takes place on Tuesday 27 February, 17.45-19.45pm at The Auditorium at The Forum, Millennium Plain, Norwich NR2 1TF.
Tickets are £10, with a Freelancer rate of £7.50 and free tickets for students
