SUMMARY:Rupert Everett in Conversation - University of East Anglia (Lecture Theatre 1)
DESCRIPTION:An extraordinary evening with Everett as he shares insights into his career on screen and discusses his debut collection of short stories.\n\n\n\nJoin us for an extraordinary evening with Rupert Everett as he shares insights into his career on screen and discusses his debut collection of captivating short stories The American No. Rupert will be in conversation with the Arts Editor Nina Nannar. \nNorfolk-born Rupert Everett is a BAFTA and Golden Globe nominated actor. He first came to public attention in 1981 for his performance in Julian Mitchell’s critically acclaimed play and subsequent film Another Country which garnered him his first BAFTA nomination. From there he has enjoyed a successful career\, starring in My Best Friend’s Wedding\, An Ideal Husband\, A Royal Night Out and voicing Prince Charming in the popular Shrek franchise. He made his directional debut with The Happy Prince\, which he wrote and stars in as Oscar Wilde. \nHe has also excelled in theatre with many notable performances The Vortex and in recent years The Judas Kiss\, Pygmalion and Amadeus. Last year he returned to The Royal Theatre of Bath with one of Chekhov’s great theatrical masterpieces Uncle Vanya\, which he directed and starred in. \nAbout The American No: \nEight stories of love and loss\, drama and glamour\, hope and rejection\, from a writer at the height of his powers. \nIn Rupert Everett’s first\, glorious collection of stories\, he takes us on an exhilarating journey with a cast of extraordinary characters. A blackly humorous story of a chaotic and emotional funeral in Paris. Oscar Wilde’s last night in Paris\, vividly evocative\, unflinching and elegiac. A middle-aged American-Russian countess who confronts sex and age in a Wiltshire teashop. The ferociously unforgiving life of an L.A. talent agency and the unexpected twist that launches a completely different kind of career. The deathbed confession of a woman who left home for 1850s India\, never to return. A story of emigration\, love and grief. And a beautifully evocative\, touching and witty portrayal of Proust’s creative life and his childhood. \nThis event is in partnership with Norfolk Screen\, for which Everett is a patron. \nThe event will be followed by a book signing with The Book Hive.

DESCRIPTION:A new Women’s Midlife Collective\, focusing on issues affecting women during the perimenopause and menopause\, is the latest project to be launched at That Little Norfolk Studio in Wymondham where tailored groups and creative events are on offer for everyone at every life stage. \nFrom bingo and quiz nights\, open mic sessions\, and sea shanty nights aimed at all ages\, to cookery sessions\, children’s art events\, poetry\, men’s guitar sessions\, and reading groups\, the volunteer-run venue hosts activities and group seven days a week. \nNow\, ClearCompany CIC\, the social enterprise behind That Little Norfolk Shop & Studio\, is inviting women to participate in a survey that will shape a fortnightly drop in space for women to meet\, socialise\, share experiences\, and access expert information about the perimenopause and menopause. \nThe Women’s Midlife Collective will meet on the first and third Tuesday of each month\, from December and the organisation is teaming up with Dr Emma Ping\, who specialises in the perimenopause and menopause\, to deliver a safe and informative space to share and access reliable information. \nIssues ranging from confusion around HRT options\, relationships being negatively impacted\, and fears that symptoms may be wrongly attributed to the perimenopause were amongst the main issues initially shared by women with That Little Norfolk Studio.  The survey will gather the range of issues affecting women and continue to collect feedback as the group develops\, which will inform the direction of the twice monthly sessions. \nThe Women’s Midlife Collective sessions will begin on Tuesday 16nd December from 7pm to 9pm. The group will be shown clips from popular TV shows\, podcasts and social media that represent a range of related issues.  Women will have the opportunity to listen to a live conversation between Dr Ping and ClearCompany Director\, Julie Briggs about how they have been affected by the perimenopause and participate if they wish. \nBased in the former Abbey Schoolrooms in Wymondham\, That Little Norfolk Studio runs on average 35 events and groups each month.  Sales of Norfolk produce and crafts from That Little Norfolk Shop on the lower floor help to raise funds to cover the running costs of the venue. \nRegular events include the weekly Friday Youth Café\, Dungeons and Dragons sessions\, Shanty Nights\, Bingo\, Quiz Nights\, The Sound Café\, Ukulele groups\, Ante Natal classes\, and Whatever Wednesdays where the venue is open to all to play games\, instruments\, do crafts\, or socialise. \nThe organisation is actively seeking volunteers to help run the shop and studio\, serve the public and set up for events and groups.  For further information about events\, private hire\, groups\, or volunteering\, email info@clearcompany.org.uk.

SUMMARY:Pre-loved school uniform pop-up - Castle Quarter\, Norwich
DESCRIPTION:Parents and carers looking to replenish their children’s school uniforms for the spring term are invited to Castle Quarter’s next pre-loved pop-up event\, taking place on Monday 5th January. \nNow entering its third year\, the Norwich social\, leisure and lifestyle destination runs a community initiative which welcomes donations of good-quality used uniform items\, that are then offered\, for free\, at pop-up events to anyone needing support in pulling together or refreshing their child’s school clothing. \nThe project has proved so popular that Castle Quarter has been hosting pop-up events throughout the past year. \nOn 5th January\, parents and carers will be able to visit the Centre Management Office\, on Level 3\, between 9am and 4pm\, and pick up one set of pre-loved school uniform per child at no cost. All are welcome to just turn up\, with no pre-booking required. \nSince Castle Quarter launched the scheme in 2024\, more than 2\,500 items\, including branded blazers\, shirts\, jumpers\, skirts\, PE kit and shoes\, have been distributed to over 200 families. It is estimated that this has saved families almost £15\,000.\nAs well as helping to ease the financial burden of school uniform shopping\, the initiative has also diverted more than 900kg of textiles from landfill – that’s the weight equivalent of nine baby elephants! \nAccording to the Department of Education\, a uniform for a child in primary school can cost\, on average\, £343\, which rises to £442 for a child in secondary school. Some uniforms require a high number of branded items\, which can only be purchased in specialist shops and can drive up the overall price. \nTo donate pre-loved school uniform at Castle Quarter\, please drop off bags at the Centre Management Office\, on Level 3\, between 9am and 4pm\, on any day. Items must be washed and in good\, wearable condition\, with all name tags removed where possible. \nCheck Castle Quarter’s website and Facebook page for the latest events and announcements. \nPre-loved school uniform items at Castle Quarter

SUMMARY:Big Breckland Breakfast - Bintree\, Breckland
DESCRIPTION:Breckland Council is to hold its inaugural ‘Big Breckland Breakfast’ to bring together people from across the district’s farming and rural communities for a morning of conversation\, connection\, and support. \nThe free community-focused event will take place at 9am on Monday\, 19 January 2026\, at Algy’s Farm Café in Bintree. \nRecognising the vital role that everyday interactions play in rural life\, this event is for farmers and other people involved in the fabric of Breckland’s country communities. From pub landlords and parish councillors to post office staff\, veterinarians\, and farming families\, each plays a crucial role in maintaining the well-being of rural areas. The ‘Big Breckland Breakfast’ is an opportunity for those who care about their community to come together\, share experiences\, and strengthen the networks that keep our rural communities thriving. \nThere is no need to register for the event and people are encouraged to turn up on the day.
