Unlocked: An Interfaith Conversation – University of Suffolk

This autumn, the University of Suffolk is running an exciting programme of free open lectures and events covering topics from the meaning of marriage to the crucial role of schools in shaping our society.
The programme starts on Wednesday 12 November with an Interfaith Conversation which will bring together the voices across a range of faiths to explore the meaning and significance of marriage.  The discussion which will take place over a half day event will be opened by keynote speaker Gulshan Kayembe, The High Sheriff of Suffolk and will be followed by panel discussions and an open Q&A.
On Thursday 20 November, the University will host the annual John West-Burnham Memorial Lecture 2025, a key event for those committed to shaping the future of our society through schools and education.
The lecture entitled; From the Inside Out – Leading Schools to Build a Society that Cares which will be presented by distinguished speaker Malcom Groves, Director of Schools of Tomorrow. During the lecture, Malcolm will explore how daily practice and core principles within our schools can foster empathy, engagement, and participation to create a positive shared, lived experience.
The final open lecture of 2025 will welcome back Honorary Graduate Charlie Haylock who will share his experience behind the scenes of the hit Netflix film The Dig. In one of his final lectures before he retires, Charlie will reveal what it was like to be a dialect coach to Ralph Fiennes and help him bring out the character of Basil Brown and the authentic Suffolk dialect.
