New Street Market Brings Edinburgh Fringe to Woodbridge with a Three-Day Comedy Festival.
This summer, New Street Market is bringing a taste of the Edinburgh Fringe to their table in Suffolk, giving audiences the rare opportunity to enjoy dinner and see four of the UK’s most exciting emerging comedians perform their brand-new shows before they head to Scotland for the world’s largest arts festival.
Running from Thursday 30 July to Saturday 1 August, the Edinburgh Fringe Pre-Festival Festival will showcase four critically acclaimed comics as they put the finishing touches to their Edinburgh Fringe performances just days before the festival begins.
Usually only seen in preview venues across London and Edinburgh, these intimate work-in-progress performances offer comedy fans a unique chance to experience cutting-edge stand-up before almost anyone else, after enjoying a great dinner at New Street Market’s restaurant.
Hosted inside the vibrant surroundings of New Street Market, the festival also reflects the venue’s growing reputation as one of Suffolk’s most exciting independent cultural spaces. Open six days a week and set inside a beautifully converted carriage works in the heart of Woodbridge, New Street Market is a cafe and restaurant that combines food and drink with cultural events. They aim to create a welcoming space where people can spend an hour – or happily lose an afternoon.

Fresh from more than 40 million online views, BBC New Comedian finalist Marty Gleeson brings her acclaimed debut hour to Woodbridge. Blending surreal observations with moments of genuine humanity, Dog Ear has already attracted praise from comedians including Joe Wilkinson and Rolling Stone.

Andy Barr – A Comet Appears
Leicester Comedy Festival Best New Show nominee Andy Barr closes the festival with a new hour exploring medieval monks, comets and the relentless pace of change. Described by comedian John Kearns as “your new favourite comedian”, Barr is one to watch before his Edinburgh run.
